Every British historian now frantically trying to find examples of British royals being arrested that don’t end either with their execution or being held in the Tower ...

@Natasha_Jay Henry VI was imprisoned, escaped, had a brief second spell as king, got imprisoned again, and then (possibly) beaten to death once his presence became inconvenient.
(Officially he died of natural causes, but I'm not sure anyone believed that in 1471 and I'm quite sure nobody does now.)

@RolloTreadway
Was he arrested or 'captured on the battlefield' first time round?But I'll allow it

@Natasha_Jay Edward II being a case in point (anyone of a nervous disposition should not look that one up)

@Natasha_Jay Now you come to mention it, I think he was captured on the battlefield.

Elizabeth I.She was imprisoned while a princess, and once released became Queen of England.
Edit: Sorry, didn't think she was imprisoned in the Tower.
-
@Natasha_Jay please please please hold him the Tower and then take off his head- would be such lovely justice

I checked Wikipedia and it says she was in the Tower for 2 months, which is why I edited my reply. -
