Are we all millenials here or is that a misperception?
Could people boozt this? I am so curious.
Are you a:
@thordis i'm between millenial and gen Z
Always depends on which reference you look
Born in the 90s, grown up in the 2000s
I'd throw myself in with the millenials, but ever since generation talk and "where is the cap" got big, its weird for me, bcs i'm so weirdly in between and its basicly opinion based -

Whatever that weird gap is between the tail-end of the Boomers and the beginning of Gen X.

@thordis I'm on the border between gen x and millennial

@thordis The new forkiverse people might be millennial leaning, but the rest of masto tends to be older.
@Bumblefish @thordis no idea what a forkiverse is but a lot of the people I interact with (as well as myself) are gen z lol

Are you a:
@thordis Is it the new horoscope? I never thought hard about this and mostly ignored a psychology teacher that tried to teach this. I don't have any idea of my "sign".
Edit: I mean that the idea of using a US-focused terminology (e.g. the huge "baby boomers" post-war baby surge didn't happen here, as we weren't as involved in the war as the USA was — and I even checked data for that!) makes it look like a horoscope to me rather than a serious thing.

I thought it was mostly gen X and older millennials. But younger millennials seem less here.

@Clem @szczurtorebkowy @thordis I don't feel lucky. I feel like I'm watching all my hopes and dreams be torn down for good, just as they were about to finally be within reach. The stuff I worked toward my whole life... I worked toward it for nothing. All the angst, trying to be good enough for my parents and then my children, only to find out it was pointless because it doesn't matter what I do or did. The world has turned to a giant dumpster fire, and I don't know how we will ever climb out of it.

I an feeling I never even got the chance in the first place. Graduated in 2009. Zero jobs my entire life. Felt like I crawled out from this mentally ill hole I fell in and now well im yeah deeply feeling we have lost everything. Im autistic… was a special ed kid who benefitted a lot from changing policy allowing me into mainstream classes and required I have a qualified teacher and nothing much since.

@thordis I have to look up these categories every time. That all suggests to me that I'm probably a boomer, but no, according to the table, I'm Gen X and have experienced digitalization. Cool.

@tanghus
My instance has (had?) the option to post instance only, I haven't seen it be used much.
The forkiverse was started by some podcasters, which helps explain it exploding in a few days (with 6.9k users, it's the 20th biggest server on fedidb. The launching podcast episode was released Jan 9th). I think it refers to forking social media in general. They said on the podcast it's hosted on masto.host, so I assume it's running vanilla mastodon.

Oh god I’m sorry. I don’t think there’s any corporate IT job out there that’s safe from LLM AI and it’s snake oil peddlers.
Do you have a paypal or anything like that? Also check around your area for mutual aid. I’m rooting for you.
I do. The info is all here, for anyone who can afford to help:

Boosts help get it in front of people who can help, for anyone who wants to help but is as broke as me.

We autistics have the lowest employment rate of any disability group. The way jobs are allocated is fundamentally dependent on neurotypical-style social interactions. We strike many neurotypicals as "off" somehow because we don't move or talk or think like them. I think we hit the uncanny valley, basically. And because they often make their assessments and hiring decisions on "gut feeling", that incongruous signaling is enough for us to be passed over...over and over and over.

I've been the lucky exception in that I can *sometimes* seem NT enough to pass the exclusion tests.

@thordis I tend to caucus with Millennials, though. I grew up without tech, but was all in once I got it.

I move like a hummingbird. But not like they would know with all the online application and no interviews… I think its cause I graduated from a special ed class… cause they can know that. And even knowing they could pay me sub minimum… they still wouldn’t chance me.
But I at least understand why people think Im on drugs when I saw myself on security footage next to a normal married couple… they moved line penguins. My hummingbird flapping surly…
