@evacide a point I was hoping to see in this article is that randomness—maybe slightly skewed towards a target—is an effective instrument of terror. It's not just that they don't care and are happy to invent pretexts after the fact, but systems like what they are building, which may result in targeting anyone, serve their purpose *better* than accurate systems that don't make mistakes.

Sometimes I get a really good quote in. -
It’s interesting that this American fascism is so artless and devoid of inspiring symbols or imagery.@futurebird or maybe they just prefer generated art as part of the anti-humanness. Yeah, that makes sense

It’s interesting that this American fascism is so artless and devoid of inspiring symbols or imagery.@futurebird I wonder how much of it is simply because artists as a whole aren't being fooled a second time. The posters from dhs definitely have an aesthetic, albeit artificially generated. And the street brutes also have an aesthetic, it's just a pathetically cheap paramilitary one. It all makes sense in my head as a coherent whole, it's just poorly executed

Kyle Rittenhouse walked up to police carrying an assault weapon during protests in Kenosha, then killed people, and Conservatives called him a hero.@augieray there are very few protests in Minnesota. The vast majority of what's happening is not protests, but folks observing and documenting crimes, helping their neighbors, and other forms of non-protest direct action. @Mab_813 is raising very good and important points and your inexplicably hostile, hair trigger reaction does not inspire confidence. Please reconsider, these conversations are important!
