@hacks4pancakes is it wrong that I feel the appropriate response to this at the state level would be to prioritize the areas of higher population density for enhanced ID assistance?

Of course I've also mentally entertained a theoretical Illinois "we're doing it to save money" response to things like Georgia's 'black belt' voter ID moves. Things like "we're only going to have a few voting locations per House district." Sure some people in southern Illinois would have to go a few counties over to vote, but think of all the money the state could save!

@briankrebs pre-ACA becoming eligible for group plans could also be a reason to join organizations like ACM or IEEE.

Small business startups may also depend a lot on one spouse keeping a corporate job just for the insurance.

I'm amazed that companies haven't pushed harder for nationalized healthcare or Medicare for All just as a competitive thing to reduce their costs.

@hacks4pancakes I think infosec has always had some very disturbing facets. There are a lot of wonderful people who are all about "live, let live, let me help" but there are also some amazingly toxic people who either aren't capable of fitting that, who are strictly selfish, or who are full of hate and spite - and some quantity who are detatched enough from social structures to either be gray rocks or go wherever they're led.

@GossiTheDog looked last night and the middling office PCs I had a customer get in December have literally doubled in price. These pricks are going to start trying to push people to cloud desktops next because all they can afford is terminal-level local hardware.
