  • If you have never tried playing your acoustic-electric guitar through a small bass amp, give it a go when you have the chance.

My only other secret weapon when dealing with undersaddles is an LR Baggs Para-Acoustic DI, which has some handy features and a five-band EQ section with selectable midrange and a notch filter.

I only have two complaints about it: the fx loop is a stereo-jack send-and-return, which doesn't play nicely with a lot of common situatiuons, and whatever adhesive they use for the backing isn't all that great (so the backing tends to slide off). The latter, of course, is easily addressed at any home improvement store. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I second this bit of arcane wisdom.

There often isn't a lot of difference between "bass amp" and "full range" amp, although supplemental features (EQ, tone-shaping, any effects, etc) will be tailored to specific purposes..

Bass speakers, otoh, tend to drop off pretty sharply starting in the high mids. Funny enough, lots of acoustic-electric guitars use piezo undersaddle pickups that sound quacky, fizzy, and brittle starting in the high mids. So bass cabs tend to take that irritating edge off.

Many acoustic-electrics also have wolf tones/feedback resonances around a low F# or G that will start to howl in moderate volume situations. Tthe EQs on bass amps can often sidestep that, where "acoustic" amp EQs may not, and electric guitar amp EQs almost never can.

  • Welp, I've been using Logic Pro 12 for less than 10 minutes and I'm reverting to 11.2.3.

Honestly, I'm amazed. Every single update to Logic Pro breaks fundamental interface behavior I use on *every* project. Sometimes its how panes open and close. Sometimes it's how adjusting region edges changes edges you aren't adjusting (and can permanently lose audio). It literally is like they have zero QA/testing on this stuff.

With Logic Pro 12, now it's how it sets default scroll bar placement on the region editor EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's either slammed to the very top of the scrollbar, or slammed to the very bottom. Kinda seems to pick a direction at random. So, you know, if I need to edit 40 regions, now I have to play with scroll bars 80+ times just to see what I'm doing. All previous versions of Logic kept the scrollbar where I'd placed them.

OMG Blackstar! For years I told people there had been some dumb cartoon that had a theme almost the same as Star Trek: TNG and thatโ€™s it!

I know the world is consumed with massive problems and major issues and those are very important, but I have been unable to find affordable shoes that fit for over a year now and it's driving me crazy.

I seem to go through walking/trail shoes in about 4โ€“6 months regardless of brand (yes, I have tried "quality" examples), so I go for discount cheapies: they may only last 75% as long, but the're like 12โ€“20% of the price. They're fine around town, and I save the decent trail shoes for actual trails, deserts, mountains, etc.

But lately it's become impossible to find examples that fit. My shoe size doesn't seem to have changed, but where I used to be able to buy that size with reasonable confidence, I'm about to return my *fifth* pair in the last six months, this time because they fit one foot (just one!) oddly.

If you've done the math: yes: this means I'm on the verge of not having "town" shoes. Sigh.
