i started taking pics from across the room just in case my approach disturbed her. in the end i got right up to her and she didn't move at all, so i got worried. reach out to stroke her nose and she disappeared back underneath, purring

mostly, i do not: what the fire does is (mostly) beyond me. i do know though that there will (usually) be bigger patches wherever i place the tongs to lift the sculptures out of the kiln (to put them into the fire bin), so i try to bear that in mind. secondary to bearing in mind where i can pick things up with the least chance of dropping them! but this one was picked up with one tong on either side, hence the extra patterning on the wings ...
