@anthropy Problem with Discord is that a lot of people can use it that are not into self hosting and are not technical. To replace something like Discord it needs to be usable for people who are not technical.

I don't understand how people think they can just re-write chat app without considering how it will be subject to the same dumb regulation discord just has been targeted as first? Matrix and whatever else out there is will eventually get targeted by these dumb repressive authoritarian regulations too... or get sold to Larry so they can make it radicalization ragebait platform for the rich billionaire puppet masters whether that is through bunch of shady VCs or Larry himself (TikTok)
