@thecrawford @neil If it's any help, I tend to use my Pi3s with just the FAT (/boot/firmware) partition on the SD card, and cmdline.txt pointing to a USB stick that holds the root filesystem. It only needs the FAT partition to boot. Maybe that won't corrupt?

Lidl is experimenting with closing the conveyor belt checkouts and forcing everyone to use the self-service terminals.@yngmar That's bad news. I hope the experiment is a failure, though when corporates do this type of thing, typically they've already made their decision, it's just communicating it.
As you say, it makes a monthly shop impossible. Very disappointing if they go ahead with this.
