My girlfriend and I went out yesterday to steal love locks, then went to get some warm food and drinks afterwards (it was friggin' cold).

@lianna @alice Okay, so someone posted something they do that vibes to you initially as insensitive.
I would recommend when you come across something like that, on here or in real life, that you give the person in question the benefit of the doubt at first and ask a follow up question instead of jumping to "you're a dick who hurts people".
It doesn't mean that first impression will always be wrong, but I think it's worth it for us to try to understand each other first and judge second.

I know everyone else is hyper focused on the locks and all, but can we take a moment to appreciate that cinnamon roll?
... Please tell me it tasted as good as it looks

@Aprazeth it was pretty dang good

Ugh, they can be so good. Especially with the frosting and they're still a bit warm and nomnomnom
I'd eat the whole thing. I'd probably be tired and need a nap, but totally would if I could (dang celiac disease, forcing me to eat quad Choco chip cookies with Belgian chocolate

@rainynight65 I'm OMW out to get an ultrasonic cleaner right now. To date, I just store them in a clean, dry place. I oil some if I can do so without ruining the markings on them.

We ended up with 28 new love locksΒΉ, a cinnamon roll the size of a large hedgehog, and chai I had to strain through my teeth.
All and all, it was a beautiful day and a lovely experience...though next time I hope they pour the chai through a strainer

ΒΉI went for easier prey because, from the time I pulled my hands out of my pockets, I had about 30 seconds of poking icy metal before my fingers went numb.
@alice I'd like a cinnamon roll the size of a large hedgehog. I would also accept an actual large hedgehog

@alice Oh my, your lock posts prompt me to share this story: Years ago, on my bike commute, I saw an open padlock on the ground. I picked it up mostly so no one would ride over it, then impulsively slapped it onto a wire fence along the bike path a few miles down the road and locked it. To this day, I still see it on my commute (photo taken today). Perhaps not quite a love lock. But if youβre ever in the Santa Barbara area, I know a place where your skillz can be applied.

@gb0n that one looks like it's holding up pretty nicely; I'm curious what the core looks like!
In Seattle (at least right near the ocean where love locks are typically placed) *most* locks don't last longer than a few months before they seize up from rust.

@alice This one lives exactly one mile from the closest oceanfront. It has to have been at least 2 years. Probably more like 3 years.

@alice Assume this is a love lock situation but what do I know? Seen on a gate to a fire access road while hiking in the foothills above Santa Barbara today.

@gb0n lmao, I've seen dual-custody setups, but that's some "we saw you from across the bar and wanted to know how you feel about swingers" energy there.
