@ascentale @bikenite #BikeNite A8. Snow! I actually have photos this week of my ride home from a meeting downtown in the snow, but my server is being uncooperative right now, so I can't upload them.

I had meetings downtown on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and both nights it snowed on me. I, of course, *still* have not put on eiher set of my Winter tires, but I was still fine, even going through 2" (5 cm) of snow on the way home.

@ascentale A8. This week I saw the psychedelic rock band Agouti at Bottom of the Hill, a legendary venue I love and will miss when it closes this year, despite the venue having tried to fight a protected bike lane in front. Looks like their patrons are enjoying the improvement.

@meganL @ascentale @bikenite I remember hearing about Burning Man via USENET way back in the '90s. At the time, I desperately wanted to go, but I knew that by the time a garden variety mildly eccentric nerd with artistic pretensions like me could just go without having to know The Right People, it wouldn't be what I hoped to experience, anymore.

About the same time, King Missile released a song with a line "I want to be just like all the Different People.", and ouch, did I ever feel seen when I heard that!

A8: Yesterday bikeride was a bit different. Winter rally is in town and the start is on the bikeroad by the river. Lovely day, -17 C and sun so I decided to have a look. Warning for loud sound in the clip. #bikenite

@ascentale @bikenite A8. A bit of a frustrating week because the protected bike lane we ride in to school was blocked 4 of 5 mornings and in really rough spots to navigate without it. Have been fighting with our dept of transportation over it. #BikeNite

I saw my glove in the driveway The one the dog walker picked up from where I dropped it weeks ago, it got buried in snow... and just dropped it where I'd see it
I saw ;big waves from people I haven't seen since the nasty snow I saw how easy it was to bungee a knee scooter to an Xtracycle so when housemate snuck out of orthopedic rehab for a day she could use it, thanks to math prof whose wife won't need it again 'til they do surgery on her other ankle.

@ascentale @bikenite We saw some great yard signs last Sunday at the home of Ken and Anna Thomsen in Monterey. They are the parents of our friend Laurel Thomsen, who has donated some songs for Bicycling Monterey videos, including “It’s a New Day.”

The most interesting thing I saw that I photographed this week is a flock of Purple Finches on my outdoor pizza oven on my deck. The oven had a vinyl cover and snow on top of it and the finches were eating the snow.

@ascentale @bikenite A8. I had a lovely mtb ride yesterday with a friend. Some gorgeous views, including this one of Mt Tahoma (a.k.a. Rainier).

A8 I took the fixed wheel bike out for a trundle last Sunday, as it was a nice day. Came back via the Selby to York cycle path, which has a small tribute to the late, great British racing cyclist Beryl Burton (who opened the path after it had been converted from a former railway line), who just happened to live on the next street to me when I was a child.
