@sashag that's why many juristictions outlaw safety gear at protests as "illegal armour"…

@sashag I think the police scanners that you can generally buy are receivers, only. They scan a lot of frequencies to pick up signals from many transmitters in a frequency band, but don't have transmitters in them. Transmitting on police and emergency frequencies without a license would be quite illegal.

@gdinwiddie @sashag agreed. And in all but the most rural areas, the police have moved to encrypted digital trunking systems instead of analog radios, so scanners aren't very useful.

@sashag Just wondering: Would that be legal in the US?
In some places when participating in a demonstration, it's not allowed to wear "defensive equipment" like helmets.
Is the law that regulates demonstrations federal? -

Is the law that regulates demonstrations federal?@Bundesligatrainer I don't know. People in these areas should though. And be appropriately careful.

@sashag I don't understand why resisters aren't already using that equipment & if they don't want to carry a gun, for the love of god, buy pepper spray & bear spray. Buy spray paint & cover ICE vehicles. Use objects to flatten tires, bats to break windows. There's no reason to be unarmed or unprotected. Who made the rule that only fascists are allowed weapons? Civil disobedience isn't something to be considered, it should be the standard. We shouldn't be afraid of civil war. We should embrace it

What a shame that would have!
@sashag And it would be a terrible shame if all of these actions make it impossible for the goons to kidnap and/or terrorize people.

What a shame that would have!
Some police switched to encrypted digital radios and are hard to listen to on scanners.
Shakes fist at local police department.

What a shame that would have!
@sashag It would be a shame as the GOP would use it to end Right to Repair your own home. Not like the evil monsters haven't criminalized bottles of drinking water already. Did you know they can arrest you for a 'drug paraphernalia' or 'aiding illegal immigrants' in some of the redhole states for having and/or distributing WATER.
What'd be REALLY great if people would be proactive rather than reactive and paid attention before things got this bad.

@sashag And for further down the road, just for a thought experiment. In the majority of states it is not illegal to Carry either concealed or open at your Voting place. Check your local laws. With all the folks with ideas about stolen elections we may need to go to the Polls Armed . . Just a thought and watch out for those states that are trying to stop those laws. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/blog/guns-and-polling-places/

You'd need something like a Baofeng UV-5R. Also, compared to the Signal Protocol, radio encryption sucks and relies on the "tone" of a radio so it's easier to crack. Not "easy to crack," "easier to crack." -

@alienghic @sashag
Get a Baofeng UV-5R, either load DragonOS on a LiveUSB stick or just download Chirp, connect the Baofeng to your computer, go through each tone on your local police department's frequency, and maybe you'll get lucky. -

At some point we will have lost any chance of regaining our democracy. It's something to ponder it maybe necessary. I've already fought for my country once. I don't think we have the patience of Gandhi. If you will recall MLK was not alone, there was a backdrop ready to react to violence with violence, Malcolm X. Between outrage and fear he became the voice of freedom. We have already heard from the Panthers. The people who created this nation fought a revolution.
