    @briankrebs

    and this is why I am going back to the 1990's style email server, spool, and a terminal window client that reads text. Just like the old Unix days as K&R intended.

    @dianea lady it's an exciting time. there are multiple maintained terminal-first muas right now, and at least two support jmap. i should do a video about my notjust, sup, and mutt setup cuz i use my Maildir as a RAG for a couple of applications.

    #homebrew has my favorites! i am considering delivery 🚚 into my home again for the first time since 2007.

      @briankrebs added to the list of reasons I’m glad I dumped Google things long ago.

        The mindset of a rapist who won't take "No" for an answer.

            @briankrebs As of today, Gmail is also popping up AI summaries of my emails in the app.

            Ugh I've been meaning to change servers and get the fuck away from Google but with ADHD and a lot of other life stressors I keep putting it off. Aaaaand now it's definitely time.

            I know about proton mail, where was that list of all the other replacements for Google services? Google calendar is one I'm very much tied to...

            I know I have it somewhere, not finding it now, maybe @FediTips have it handy?
            Edited: Just found this article, maybe it can help https://disconnect.blog/getting-off-us-tech-a-guide/
            Also one of my fellow librarians use heavily Tuta calendar, so far no complains.

                @briankrebs All the ppl out there who aren't great at typing are going to opt in no doubt. So, get ready for a tidal wave of slop emails.

                  @briankrebs Chrome has this crap built-in now, and being context-aware makes it darkly hilarious.

                    @briankrebs if you use little close widgets that don't resemble normal close widgets, you're an asshole for that too in addition to being an asshole for being too close to "do you still beat your children?" where either answer is damning.

                      Yes, because confidence in any skill obviously comes from getting no experience, but instead getting someone, or something, else to do the task for you.

                      This is clearly an exercise in deskilling people, so they become dependant on corporations for stuff that has been taught in high schools for years (ie communicating confidently via language).
