So a couple of weeks ago, I linked to those three episodes on pirate medicine. It was from the saw bones podcast.
Bloody flux a.k.a. bloody diarrhea who is the thing that happened a lot on pirate ships. Often it was induced by the ships surgeon to let out bad humors. But if it carried on too long, it was clearly detrimental. The most common treatment for this was bleeding. After all, if you got enough of that nasty blood out elsewhere, it would stop coming out your butt.
