@Saorsa @alex @superboom12s @xaetacore @musha spelling out there whole name like that makes them seem like an evil entity hellbent on making people's life worse

For IoT to be used in the manner it has, they have to make their build for it slim and include the functionality for managing those clients with Windows Server or Azure. So it is guaranteed to be light. As for any concerns about telemetry, from what I've heard you can reduce it to a bare minimum through group policies and probably further with stuff like shutup10.

@alex @Saorsa @superboom12s @xaetacore @musha if there is a will there is a way. im pretty sure most of the things you mentiones can be run on linux. and the ones that can't... maybe it's time to find something newMost of their software can probably be found on the AUR tbh.

@superboom12s @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha I try to avoid custom win 11 builds. I don't trust MS but trusting random person to provide virus free OS ISO is a bit harder.@alex @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha I understand, but I thought is was open source? It would make sense for it not to be, since it may be illegal to expose their closed code, but I thought it was

Chrome/Discord video acceleration is so flakey for me it's insane.

General rule of thumb is to never trust an image of Windows unless it was distributed by Microsoft themselves with a checksum or built by yourself.
There are both open source and proprietary image builders, though your experience may vary depending on which one you decide to use.

@superboom12s @Saorsa @xaetacore @musha Tbh Idk about the project, I just never heard of it and it was not on the first page of google -
I tend to avoid Flatpaks like the plague. Between Nix and Distrobox, I've come to the realization that if you can't get what you want as a binary in the distribution's native format for their package manager, then there is probably not much point in using it.
Obvious exceptions and caveats will apply of course for stuff deployed for a specific purpose such as thin clients, servers and IoT devices.
Still doesn't stop me from wanting to have Nix on my TiVo box, though.

@Saorsa @alex @katzenismus @xaetacore @musha I just left Discord cause I found it annoying and I didn't like it at all, I didn't had any friends there so I just removed it

@Saorsa @katzenismus @alex @xaetacore @musha Looks cool! I didn't even knew it existed.
The website doesn't tell much about the service, so I guess I would have to try it in order to learn more, but it looks like open source Discord, right?
But then, why use it and not Matrix? Or why use Matrix if that does exist? Matrix already looks a bit like Discord, right?
Maybe Matrix is more focused on privacy and this one on social communities? -

Maybe Matrix is more focused on privacy and this one on social communities?Matrix's like the Fediverse in that it can look however you want it to be. Stoat is more of a centralized Discord clone, though.
As for why you should use it, only you can decide that. Just wanted to make you aware of another free and open source platform besides Matrix and XMPP, albeit a centralized one.

@superboom12s @katzenismus @alex @xaetacore @musha@Saorsa @katzenismus @alex @xaetacore @musha Yeah, I knew about the instance based Matrix model and I assumed this platform would be different, but I mean, what are the ups and downs of each service if they both look mostly the same?
At the end of the day I know I won't be using any of them cause I have no one to talk to but it would be nice to at least give them a try

Just recently found out that I get motion sickness in moving vehicles. Never had that issue before until just recently.
@superboom12s @xaetacore @alex @musha@Saorsa @superboom12s @alex @musha I suddenly have nausea since NYE, its a bit better now but i have a talk with my GP today to see if i can get some bloodwork done, been a while and i might have a vitamin deficiency or something who knows.
Could also just be my hash usage kek but been doing that for a long while so should have felt it before
