      @DrFell it triggers the adrenal glands which make stress hormones that go to the liver to make sugar. This is called gluconeogenesis - and it breaks down muscle to do it.

        @DrFell under healthy conditions, the body will switch between fat and glucose for fuel. If the healthy person fasts, they switch to fat-burning during the fast without a problem. But if someone is experiencing blood sugar issues, they typically are not switching to fat as fuel efficiently. Instead, they will experience severe cravings, maybe shakiness, dizziness (as their blood sugar drops), headaches, fatigue, sleep disruption, or stomach discomfort (nausea).
