@Kierkegaanks I think you're missing the point tbh.

Have you wondered where the claim that autistic people lack empathy came from?@KatyElphinstone I like to say there's always another option in a forced binary choice. Like the trolley problem - group A or group B gets killed: you choose. What about slipping the points so the trolley doesn't hit either group? These contrived problems often assume there is no 3rd option, without ever considering if there is one. I think Autistics are much more likely to identify the "3rd option". I've often found myself in work situations where management have identified the "two possible" solutions, and I've been called awkward for asking about the (to me) third option they never even identified.

Solidarity with Comrade Bill@jaythurbershow @aebrockwell @_the_cloud @pluralistic Yeah, it's great to poke fun at disabled people.

I don't know the origin of this but it's true.@paulk I think it can be dangerous to obsess on "legal age". The experience of being trafficked or pimped out does not stop being damaging or traumatic at passage of the age of consent.
These girls and women were damaged and traumatised by the abuse they experienced, regardless of their age.

If anyone is curious about some of what's on my to-read list (all nonfiction and nature related):@idzie Fair enough. Have not read it myself, but my wife has recently, and talked about it a lot.

If anyone is curious about some of what's on my to-read list (all nonfiction and nature related):@idzie What about "Is a River Alive?" by Robert McFarlane. Travelled the world talking to people who know about rivers.

UK PEOPLE: this is REALLY IMPORTANT.@cstross They don't even know what a VPN is or does. They tried to do this with e2e encryption key escrow, to include vpns in about 2017 and then quietly dropped it probably because someone has pointed out that businesses use them extensively for commerce comms and b2b services. Regardless of whether or not the positive effects they want are achieved (they won't be) the negatives will far outweigh them, and it still won't protect kids any better.
