@forth A brass player does not inhale air through his instrument so covering the bell is a no-go. Most players tried using a mask with a slit cut into it to minimize particle intake but it was minimally successful. Playing a wind or brass instrument of any kind means you are taking quick, deep breaths. Having a good air filtration unit next to you would probably be the most effective.
