@Em0nM4stodon I've been thinking about this, prompted by things like the Gemini protocol. What would a protocol/standard that takes away the economic incentives that made the internet bad look like? I feel like this is something we could come up with.

We need a noncommercial AI-free parallel internet curated by librarians. -
Don't anthropomorphize LLMs, language is important.@bit absolutely, and it gives people the impression that they have failure modes, which they don't. Their output is text which they cannot verify, so whether the text is factually right or wrong is irrelevant. Both are valid and completely expected outputs.

Don't anthropomorphize LLMs, language is important.@kinou @Andres4NY not necessarily, or at least not as a follow-up. The operator might have primed the bot to follow this course of action in the original prompt, and included all the necessary permissions to let it publish the generated post automatically.

Use "this document contains machine-generated text" not "this work is AI-assisted". See how people squirm when you call out their slop this way.

That's literally the core argument of pro-gun rights advocates in the US, the country with the highest number of gun-related deaths in the world.
If the tool's primary use is to cause other people harm then it's 100% the tool, not the people.

Dude, everything's fine"crypto bailout" lol lmao

Dude, everything's fine@eniko absolutely, though the crypto bros have found other ways to fund their operations such as providing proxies for US dollars to rogue regimes and criminal syndicates
-
Dude, everything's fineA gentle reminder that a bunch of "AI companies" used to be in crypto, and used Bitcoins as collateral for the gigantic loans they've taken. Play the world's smallest violin for the banks that were dumb enough to accept crypto bullshit in exchange for real money.

How we did end up in the timeline where instead of writing a note on a post-it and sticking it to the door one needs A HUNDRED THOUSAND GPUS WHICH COST A TRILLION DOLLARS AND BURN A TERAWATT OF POWER WHILE GIVING ZERO FUCKS ABOUT COPYRIGHT OR CONSENT?RE: https://mstdn.social/@990000/115993630141888644
