I had printed it thinking our cardboard box loving cat would adopt it, but instead the cat that never steps into a box (or clothes basket, drawer, etc...) kept swinging by for test rides and eventually signed up.

Fat biked on the rail trail along river and saw many signs of otter and much ice. Biking was kind of squishy, warm weather and snowmobiles had churned things up, but a lovely day.

@swansonite When the Mazda was starting to rust I got a new, lightweight donor car and started on it, fully blog mode. Went a little overboard gutting it, pulling almost all of the wiring ("I can do better!"). Then dad died and I got a prius and spent a year traveling to straighten out his affairs. Then kid was born. I went to pick it back up some years later and the wiring mess I'd left was too much, so I decided me and the kid could do it when he got older. We didn't. I think it's been a possum house ever since.

@swansonite I think best was 30 miles, but the daily commute was only about ten miles, maybe a few more if I got groceries. Did get it up to 65 on the interstate before I chickened out. Lead sled.
It was a heavy 4 door sedan (from CA, no rust!) and 12 deep cycle lead acid batteries did not help.

@harald We had a few designs over the years, started off making them with co-worker before the kid was born. Great problem solving platform, cheap/easy to get pressure vessels.

Been going through photos from old blog I had going when the kid was younger. One from our water rocket days where it looks like the rocket left a ghost of itself behind. Maybe it was the inner pressure chamber (another soda bottle). The second photo shows the outer bottle with all of the aerodynamics.

@futurebird Ring with magnet? This little switch turns on when magnet is within an inch. Not sure you'd want to wear a magnetic ring on both hands. Magnetic fingernail stick-on? ":^)

Today's ride also was a test of a new action camera. It arrived last night, I spent this morning designing an adaptor for my helmet and final version uses a semi-flexible filament. If you watch the video you'll quickly deduce that I have angled the camera a bit too far downward. The preview looked good ... on the downward sloping trail I checked it on. 🥹

@uninick It's amazing! We're up to -2C now.

It barely got below 20°F (-7C) this morning, warmest it's been in a while. Not warm in the woods, snow is still powder which takes a reluctant packing until someone hits it wrong or has overinflated ego, er, tires.
