@Loredo @cyberlyra That happens, of course, to some extent in English too (English being a Germanic language). In the US we might say a thing is 'keen' or we're 'keen' on a thing, but we don't use that as a description of ourselves. We're more likely to use a word like 'enthiusiast'.

@wdlindsy Hasn't it always been thus? When the Original Dixieland Jazz Band played in New York in 1918, the media *freaked the fuck out*, calling it the Devil's music. Noted award-winning white supremacist Henry Ford funded a program to get schools to teach kids square dancing to discourage listening to black music (jazz & blues). Moral panics over white kids listening to music from other cultures has a long history.
