I think there's a point where artists become isolated from what drove them, when they get really successful.
It's what happens when you become part of the establishment. You're comfortable and now you've got something to loose.

My first FOSDEM was 2015, I presented in 2020. The crowds really are overwhelming. Presenting at FOSDEM and knowing folks makes a huge difference. But I wouldn't attend now.

We've already had enough nonsense with AI review in the EIS process when it was being used for a while as first pass for Horizon Funding just under 5 years ago.
I knew at some point someone would use LLMs to write grant applications.

That's before we get to the ethical issues with AI, specifically LLMs and the mess that's being made for power use, water use, copyright (and left) and the hardware shortage being caused by hoarding the silicon by Big Tech for AI.
My help would be taking them away from the keyboard to think about what they were doing.

A woman who I follow on the fediverse just had to delete a post due to sexual harassment.
Men if you want more diversity on the Fediverse you need to speak up and call in your peers. You need to educate them and if they persist ban them. Make it clear they aren't welcome.
Otherwise you're making it clear we aren't welcome.
