    @chad @northernlights @johnefrancis @dmacphee @EdwinG Ugh.

    It’s just gross that so many people with absolutely zero interest in helping other people become politicians and get elected. Just consistently the worst kind of people in office literally leading to deaths of constituents. Ugh.

        That's exactly why Justin Trudeau's govt attempted to gain more transparency and the Conservative provincial govts refused, hard.

            @northernlights @bweller @chad @johnefrancis @dmacphee @EdwinG Andrew Coyne had a great piece on this. She (they) can leave, but they can’t take the land that is β€œAlberta” with them. It wasn’t ever a separate territory or country, it was created by the federal government of Canada. And I think the Indigenous peoples of those lands have a few words for Smith.

              @fsinn @northernlights @bweller @johnefrancis @dmacphee @EdwinG I'm ashamed that we're looking to Indigenous communities to defend our place in Canada after everything we did to them.

                  I just learned about the [Council of the Federation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_the_Federation), about which I had never read before even when studying up for citizenship.

                  This is actually fascinating.

                  And the first thing it makes me think of is: Smoke & Mirrors. It doesn't get much more back room dealing than this. Even the #Wikipedia article is tagged for possible manipulation via primary sources.

                      @johnefrancis @northernlights @dmacphee @EdwinG the problem is that both the federal and provincial gov'ts have no appeal to accountability anymore.

                      They got elected, and they've got four years to do whatever the hell they want. They don't respond to emails, phone calls, letters.

                      The UCP and the NWC is a prime example.

                      Eleanor Olszewski, parachute candidate for Edmonton-Centre has yet to respond to a single constituent email. Randy at least responded some of the time.

                      They're all complicit.

                        I predict that if this goes to referendum, the US admin saying the vote was compromised in some way or "stolen".

                          Agreed. It's Putin's playbook in the Donbas, copy-catted by Trump.

                            @dmacphee I will say this now. If health care becomes privatized. Most Canadians will not be able to afford healthcare. Anytime a government agency or portfolio is privatized it ends up costing people through the nose. Look at utilities.
