    A short #MedMastodon update

I'm still waiting on the domain itself to be transferred into my ownership, right now while I am paying the hosting bill I don't have control of the domain itself meaning I'm not able to migrate the instance to the new hosting environment that I need to move everything to.

With that in mind I have temporarily closed registrations on the site to prevent new sign-ups as if the domain isn't transferred there is going to be little I can actually do in the long term.

In the event that the domain isn't transferred I will look at options to get folks off of the current instance and onto new homes before I pull the plug on the hosting but I'm still hopeful that the original creator and current owner of the domain will get it transferred so the site can continue uninterrupted for the long term.

@someguy The original creator stopped paying the hosting bill without warning. They agreed to transfer the site to me so I could keep it running but since giving the approval to transfer the hosting they haven't been responsive when I've asked them to transfer the actual domain. Right now the site is up and running but is very expensive for me to host (Especially when I have a compute cluster specifically intended for hosting Mastodon and similar software with spare capacity) and I can't migrate / move MedMastodon until I have ownership of the domain as I can't move where it points to.

I'm still hoping they will transfer the domain but it's been nearly 2 weeks since I first asked and provided instructions on how to do so and I haven't heard anything back as of yet and it isn't showing up in my domain list.

@wild1145@mastodonapp.uk sorry to hear about these issues. That absolutely sucks, because Masto host is quite expensive due to ballooning S3 costs.

(This isn't an indictment of the owner of Mastohost itself, just how the costs happen to shake out.)

It sounds like you figured out a solution for your own hosted sites, so hopefully the domain will transfer over soon.

If not, and you decide to sunset, postcall.pub is here to provide a medicine focused soft landing.
