@benroyce what is "effective government response"? This combination of words is unfamiliar to me.

@benroyce Except hantavirus has a long incubation period (up to 8 weeks) and tests may not come back positive at the start of the infection...

yeah there's the quick easy testing for antibodies, and the much more difficult test for the disease itself, antibodies or not

i would *hope* that if the WHO is involved in such a high profile crisis, that the more difficult test was done

but also, there still might not be enough viral load, so i agree with you, whatever test was done, a small window of jeopardy remains

Thanks for the update… the flight attendant was definitely the most concerning but least reliable (until confirmed) element of the story as the level of contact involved truly would have fit the descriptions “brief” and “casual” which would indicate a substantial change in characteristics for hantavirus.

@DavidM_yeg @benroyce Don't relax yet. Was she the only flight crew member to come in contact? Did they clean the seat? The plane? What about his luggage?
