@paco @BenAveling it is just a stupid electronic device

@paco
i never even knew it was there. and if i did i wouldn't have known its purpose. -
@paco very cool article, thanks for sharing

@paco There are only few slots left in automobile museums for combustion cars, where fuel-junkies can enjoy time travel into their youth.
-
@paco
Not only did I not know who invented this or what itβs called, I never noticed it at allβcould have saved myself a lot of trouble if I did! -
@paco I wonder how/if it will evolve for e-cars with inlets at front/back?
-
βMoylan arrow.β valuable.
Never heard of it in a lifetime of driving.
The argument of unfamiliarity on a hire car nuts.
Any hire vehicle must be inspected for damage before moving it, noting where the filler cap is located part of that check.
-
@paco I live in a dense city, don't own a car, but rent them every now and then. So I use these arrows every time I put gas in a car.
-
@paco I wonder how/if it will evolve for e-cars with inlets at front/back?
@magsamond @paco It hasn't so far. My PHEV has the charging flap on left and a traditional fuel flap on the right. Arrow only for fuel, electricity you need to figure out for yourself.
-
@paco I have only ever owned cars with the fuel tank flap on the right, so I never even noticed there was an arrow until someone pointed it out to me.
-
@paco @briankrebs It took someone at a manufacturer to make such a small but perfect change and even get credit for it.
-
@paco I wonder how/if it will evolve for e-cars with inlets at front/back?
@magsamond @paco Back around 1960 there were several cars with the gas cap hidden behind the rear license plate.

@paco Learned something new today.

@paco TIL: there's a tiny arrow next to the car's fuel gauge to indicate on which side of the car the fuel port is. It is named after its inventor, James Moylan who worked at Ford.
Until today I've only been aware of the existence of such an indicator through a false sort-of rumor that said that the fuel pump icon indicated this through the side on which the fuel nozzle was drawn.
Good to know the name of the well-intentioned person who made this happen.
-
@paco then thereβs this rental that had two of them for some reason which confused and annoyed me (I believe it was a 2024 Chevy Tahoe- this screenshot is one I found later online)

@paco There's an IMAX cut of Episode 2 which is a much easier watch. They removed all the most painful Anakin/Padme scenes and cut Jar-jar down to the absolute minimum to touch his plot points.
I won't call the IMAX cut "good" but it's a whole lot better than the regular theatrical cut.
-
@paco It's like seeing a part of a cartoon background clearly drawn on an animation cel.
#Monsterdon #TimeWalker -
@paco Directors who need to see two faces show up in the window, probably
