@mekkaokereke Fred Hampton's ability to connect class struggle across races is what made him so dangerous, why they killed him.

As an undergrad, my student group hosted a Fred Hampton Day (each year, I think).

We mostly got puzzled looks at our posters that said "I am Fred Hampton." Except for the people that appeared there as part of CIA programs (this was in DC). They were not puzzled, I don't think.

Danny Rogers was a 5'5" homeless Black man who shoplifted toothpaste. Three guys from the CVS chased him calling him "N***er." Two had knives. They knocked him into a wall, then down to the pavement. He panicked, sure they had something other than retrieving toothpaste on their mind. He stabbed two of the guys. One died.

Self-defense, right? At least manslaughter?

No. Felony-murder. Life without parole.

@mekkaokereke There was a genuine push to end or limit qualified civil immunity for cops after George Floyd was murdered. Establishment Democrats resisted and even undermined that push, keeping in place a source of danger to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks, deflating the base, and setting the stage for Stephen Miller telling ICE agents that they have "total" immunity to kill people.

They should have listened to us then. They should listen to us now.
