Welcome to the latest turn of our Fediverse play-by-post game in honor of #SolarpunkSunday playing the solarpunk vibe #TTRPG "The Details of Our Escape". Today is a change of pace because we get to focus on positive things! (Luck must be with us, could use some positives after this weekend)
But first, here's a quick summary of what happened last time:
Storyguide Recap wrote:
Just when things seemed to be under control, The Caravan was faced with an obstacle that couldn't be surmounted. Wastelands devoid of resources. Contaminated waters. Nefarious unknown horrors whose moans raise the hair on ones neck even at a distance. This was somewhere to be avoided, no matter what side of The Veil one existed in. Plus there were still groups of The Caravan weathering hazards that had managed to pierce The Veil, such as had happened to the Riders of Omelas just before arriving at this impasse. There was no way forward, The Caravan had no choice but to divert. Yet it was not totally without merit, for in diverting their course, they chanced upon something unexpected...
Today I drew the 1:3 domino as the Chain Link, and that means: The Caravan is drawn towards something good! The Keyword dominos this time were 1:6 and 3:3, so whatever it is it's something positive that is Extremely Fragile and Hardly Alive.
When it comes to "good" things during #OurEscapeDeets according to the book it can be a number of things, such as a resource, a beautiful sight, a useful resource, or anything else you can think of that isn't a settlement/city. The point is that whatever it is, it's so good that The Caravan actively goes toward it rather than simply chancing across it on their existing heading.
What is it that is so good that The Caravan actively turns toward it, and how does your group react to whatever this good thing is? Thanks for playing! Today's session is #OEDS3 and our next turn will be posted on 1/6. I'm thinking on Sundays I'll also tag participants who joined but we haven't seen for a few rounds. That way nobody is left behind by accident but I'm also not spamming folks with tags multiple times a week. Thanks for playing!
I'm also gonna start a separate hashtag for us (or those who are reading but not playing) to post quips. The idea is any silly out of character commentary or spoilers we feel like spouting off can be in its own track so it doesn't clutter our main RP threads. Only rule is Be Nice, don't try to humiliate or scorn other players. The hashtag we'll use for that is #OEDQuips
Today is also #SolarpunkSunday so welcome to anyone who is discovering #OurEscapeDeets for the first time! Instructions for how to play can be found under the starting post which has the hashtag OEDS0 and all you need to do is reply to that post with the answers to the questions listed there. Then you can choose to either respond to the other previous posts under the OurEscapeDeets hashtags OR you can just jump right in and reply to today's post if you feel overwhelmed by trying to hunt down and respond to all the prior turns. We do about 3 to 4 turns per week, but play at the pace that works for you. You might wonder: "how can you play games at a time like this??" But remember, art is like a mirror to help you look at and best a medusa. Humans evolved telling each other stories and making art, and doing so can help us process difficulties, to intuit things, build resilience, and invent solutions because it abstracts problems into symbols, making it easier for us to handle thinking through. When we allow our minds to roam our imagination, you'd be amazed at what from your unconscious comes forward. Buried in your mind can be solutions & strategies for facing whatever's happening in your universe, brought to the surface by this creative exercise. Especially Solarpunk rpg because it is focused on improvising solutions and finding new better ways of doing things. Take your fears, stressors, disasters, and struggles and transmute them into fiction/art so that your brain can work those problems from a different and more approachable angle. Don't be shy, nobody here is about judging contributions, just let your creativity roam with us.
