(This isn't an indictment of the owner of Mastohost itself, just how the costs happen to shake out.)
It sounds like you figured out a solution for your own hosted sites, so hopefully the domain will transfer over soon.

Honestly that would be wonderful as a transitionary phase, so people can get their follow lists exported, even if their content can't be.

It runs NodeBB, a forum software, but federates just like Mastodon does. Hopefully you can find a home here 
I can't run this site by myself! As we grow, we'll need a small, trusted network of moderators to ensure that content is categorized correctly, and to help onboard newcomers to the space.
If you have a history of constructive participation in the medical Fediverse or previous forum experience, please reply here.
Right now, we only have a single category, "General Medicine". It is a catch-all category and automatically pulls in content from the fediverse that uses the #medicine hashtag.

You may have noticed that this is a forum. A bulletin board, a community discussion space. It's a little, or a lot, different from Mastodon, which aims to be a window to a global public square.
Forums are a little more insular, and more topic-focused, but this forum also connects with the fediverse, meaning your existing connections can still be rebuilt, and discussions you post here can be viewed on Mastodon, Pixelfed, Lemmy, etc.
NodeBB allows for long-form clinical and scientific debates that remain searchable and organized over time, unlike the "stream of consciousness"-style firehose of content. It seems like sometimes you might be shouting in the wind on microblogs, but on forums, your content stays relevant far longer, and is automatically brought back to the top when re-engaged with.
All that said, it is a little jarring to come from Mastodon... after all, where'd the feed go?
Discussions here are categorized, and you can see the main category list by clicking on the "list" icon in the sidebar. We don't have too many categories at the moment, but as discussions naturally evolve, additional categories will be added to better organize topics.
This forum is connected to the fediverse, which means that you'll be able to see all of the content from there as well. As people here follow other people, this forum will be exposed to more content. You can see a stream of this content in the "world" page, accessible via the globe icon 
in the sidebar.
Postcall.pub was created to fill the void left behind by the sudden closure of Med-Mastodon on 28 December 2025.
The splintering of the medical community on the fediverse was keenly felt, and I wanted to create a landing spot for those old and new seeking a discussion space for medicine, science, and all points in between.
This is a space for clinicians, researchers, and medical scientists to engage in high-fidelity discourse away from the noise of mainstream social media. Whether you are sharing a complex case, discussing a recent publication, or simply "post-call" and looking for community, you belong here.
