How many of these were actually serious is anyones guess, although middle aged golfers might appreciate the emergency putter.
I do actually own one of those plastic bikes. A keen cyclist I saw them when they were introduced 25+ years ago and had a look - wobbly as hell. But when I came across one for £10 at a car boot sale I could not resist. It remains a cycling curiosity to make our friends giggle.

It is just a newspaper report (I have not looked at the journal papers yet) but it reads as a good summary. Like many people I would only like to live to a ‘ripe old age’ if I am reasonably healthy.
