Plewman was executed at Dachau in Sept 1944. She posthumously received the Croix Du Guerre and the King's Commendation for Brave Conduct. A street in Marseilles is named after her.2/2

@Natasha_Jay Sheffield still has gas lamps - or it did a decade ago, anyway. they used to burn off the methane emitted by sewage as it made its way under the city - now most of the surviving ones are electrified, but as of 2017 there were still 4 that burn (natural) gas

@ObsidianUrbex It looks very beautiful, graceful and quiet now but back in the day it was anything but quiet. Imagine no trees in the squares, lots of open spaces, people everywhere, public transport, taxis honking. Streets filled with sunlight. This is how I remember Tskhaltubo.

@ObsidianUrbex For some reason, the first picture reminds me a lot of the deeper levels of the classic Portal 2 videogame. It feels as if these floor plates mark places which will be covered by one of the gels which are introduced in these levels.
