I've seen interesting discussions on NodeBB and decided to try federating a couple of boards. However, I've waited for some time and none of the boards where I am a local subscriber are populating. Does anyone know what's happening behind the scenes?

hmm, depends why they don't federate. What version of NodeBB and are you able to provide with sample categories for me to look into?

I'm able to see your reply from Reddthat. I did not see the post upvote.

I'm desiring to see !week-in-fediverse@activitypub.space and !general@activitypub.space in my subscriptions

Additional update: It looks like only certain threads get federated from NodeBB to Lemmy. Example federated NodeBB thread. There are other threads opened after this one. I couldn't see them from the Lemmy side. My guess is that I couldn't see them because the OPs are from Mastodon-like accounts.

@julian There are some anomalies in the federation between Lemmy and NodeBB.
In the past, I noticed that Lemmy only federated communities/categories where at least one Lemmy user had started a conversation.
Yes, I know it seems like magic, but I imagine there is a reason for it... <img class="not-responsive emoji" src="https://activitypub.space/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f600.png?v=7e3567dc339" title="😀" />

Also sharing a Lemmy-hosted counterpart discussion where at least both Lemmy and NodeBB accounts can more intuitively participate: How can a Lemmy user properly federate NodeBB categories?
