2 At first, just hearing them, I thought it was woodpeckers, but they were sounding not quite right + they were staying high up in the trees (Pileated Woodpeckers spend a lot of time on the lower parts of trees) + I caught a glimpse of undersides as they flew + was seeing some reddish brown, not right for Pileated Woodpeckers. This view of the area where I saw them shows you how easy it is to *not* see birds you know very well are there..lol#birds #BorealForest #nature #Canada
