@tootbrute I have an account, and I've tried to spend more time on it, but I still find Goodreads the best for finding new titles, which is mainly what I look for in such a service. I'm not interested in writing reviews or discussing books outside here. I like the more general approach, discussions leading to other topics, which doesn't really happen in a book oriented service.

@berniethewordsmith might be good to include that you're talking about (american, big-tech) LLMs We've used various forms of ML&AI for decades, everything from video-games to produce logistics and vaccine research. It's a group of technologies not singular thing (LLMs is not the whole group!)

@CiaraNi Already asked myself if LLM scrapers can filter out or distinguish their own generated content and what will happen if they don't. No surprise here, actually.

@annewalk Haha, I get that! After George Floyd's murder, I determined to read at least 1/2 of my books written by folks with other backgrounds and heritages than mine. It's made for a very interesting selection of reading material. Previously, I read a lot of straight, white men and books about British royalty.

@kimlockhartga I only read #audiobooks these days, and I don't do anything except a Goodreads profile with Jeff Bezos. My most reliable source for several years has been Everand, which has a very wide selection of books in its unlimited subscription plan. It looks like they are shifting to the more common plan of 1-2 credits/month, but I seem to be grandfathered in under the original plan. Occasionally, I can get books I want through Libby from the library. And when I really want to read a popular book, I pay for credits through Libro.fm, which supports local, indie bookshops.

@moehrenfeld Yeah. I *think* the point of it (not having the original quote or source to review) is that the actual work goes on in the brain and the senses are a conduit, which would make them all equal as far as getting information from texts go. So eyes are "seeing" and ears are "hearing" the words while the brain work is putting them together in "reading." Anyway, I found that interesting, but haven't had the time to explore it further.
