      Actions speak louder than words.

I am unable to install EU Login app in my phone because I use LineageOS and not the Google Spy Android.

Thus, I cannot use the double factor authentication, mandatory from the 25-02-2026 on unless I tell Google.

A frontal attack to our #privacy.

      Stupid, no?

@jdelacueva @EUCommission A couple of years ago, I complained to the portal's assistance service about this very issue, and this is the reply I got.

With SMS now not any more an option, we are really left only with FIDO2 keys.

It is unclear why they can't use established OTP standards compliant with many different platforms, and, if they really, *really* need to re-invent the wheel, why they must release their solution only through US-based platforms that come with debatable ToS.

@GOKUSHRM @guigsy Yeah, no choice for work.

I am looking at Graphine as an option. I saw it has Play in a container. I've trying to stick with non-andriod, linux options. But here are mobile connection shinanigans/ difficulties.

I def think those 3 are cooperating for an ecosystem more benificial to them.

@GOKUSHRM I know. That's my delima. Trust Graphine and Pixels, and get APKs (easier, using Waydroid now). Or, deal with finicky LTE on Linux mobile, with the freedom from Alphabet.

@jdelacueva @EUCommission Certainly unnecessary, but EU pols (pols generally, in fact) don’t seem either well-informed or concerned about such important matters.

@jdelacueva @EUCommission Similarly, that banks can deny you service because you're using a non-Google-approved system (instead of a wildly more insecure chinesium Android that was abandoned 5 years ago, which is magically still okay to use somehow), is an absolute disgrace and just really shouldn't be a thing.

From what I understand, a workaround is to create a new user and install Google Play Services and this app just for that user. Then just switch between that user and your normal one.

When you switch back to your normal user, Google Play Services and everything else the other user has installed will stop running completely.

I spent months and months trying to square the circle and ended up with a Pixel running Graphene as personal phone, and a cheap Samsung that's just a Teams + Authenticator + InTune solution...
I'm actually very happy and realising it reduces some other headaches I hadn't noticed, plus future proofs me against the corpo bullshit getting worse.

@Scofisticated am still at stock rom but without any google apps except google play service app (not updated & no internet connection). I also delete all my inbuilt apps like phone calculator clock weather message files music video player camera browser and replaced all with Foss apps. So zero corporate shit. I don't use any banking apps, I go to my bank and do things manually. That's how I keep my life easy and private (99%)😅

Come on, they only decided that last year! You can't expect them to have actually done anything about it yet.

I never expect a politician to do anything about anything.

@GOKUSHRM @Scofisticated I am new in foss community and explore some foss apps. Can you provide the name of best foss apps in market which maintain privacy.
                                          Thanks.
