All that little X means is "Hide this dialog"!

It has no bearing on the contents of that dialog.

You could be inadvertently right tho. It can mean any of those depending in the case.

If I click on a result from a search engine and I get confronted by a similarly confusing dialog I never know which opton to take.

So recently I have been choosing to just close the tab...

It would be nice to have a R-click menu option to block that domain from the results of future searches. Is there an add-on for that?

@briankrebs You get the same type nag notification, with the elusive and unclear button naming and choices, for other Google products, like Photos and Home, when they add Gemini features. @MsMerope @kahomono

@briankrebs I recently got a business email using a term that is a notorious red flag lawsuit bait. I emailed the sender to politely point it out. They were horrified and admitted AI re-wrote it when they asked AI to make it 'more approachable, nicer.' They forgot to add "and 100% compliant with all laws and regulations."

@briankrebs this is why I switched to Fastmail. Google's not going to stop pushing Gmail in unfortunate directions until they have a completely different promotion culture.

I did! when seeing this screenshot, my first thought was: huh, I wonder how confidential this really is?? I was confident about my initial read.

Also, does this mean that some (many? most??) emails I receive from gmail accounts will be written by AI? I'm sorry, but I do not spend my time reading AI-generated mail. Boycott in both directions (sending and receiving from gmail).

sorry, I don't mean boycott in the receiving direction.. I have a couple of friends and senior family who use gmail. And I talked them away from facebook, so I can't ask this as well (otherwise, I would come across as unaccommodating).
But also my friends and family would never use AI to write to me. Would they??
oh God, I hope not. If they ever felt they wanted to, then I should def finally visit them and help them clear out their garage.

@briankrebs As of today, Gmail is also popping up AI summaries of my emails in the app.

Ugh I've been meaning to change servers and get the fuck away from Google but with ADHD and a lot of other life stressors I keep putting it off. Aaaaand now it's definitely time.

I know about proton mail, where was that list of all the other replacements for Google services? Google calendar is one I'm very much tied to...

@briankrebs I used to unlock my phone without my glasses on, but there are too many want to try/turn on Gemini buttons every effing screen it seems. So always have to have them on, but I'm sure someday I will accidently accept...
